    The 47th STAU: Overview

    in 47th STAU

Scout snipers are lightly armored and far more mobile than regular infantry units, are usually assigned to planetary garrisons where they patrol perimeters, and perform reconnaissance missions and identify enemy positions. As scouts, their mission profile often positions them far from Imperial resupply for extended periods of time. As a result, the scout snipers receive special training in order to become efficient survivalists who are fitted with an array of equipment and supplies to aid in their military role. They are also trained to advance ahead of infantry divisions or to provide rear-guard cover with their long range rifles. Scout snipers are well known for their self-reliance and ability to operate alone or as a part of small squads. Due to their capabilities in stealth and mobility, Imperial High Command recognized that the scouts were also natural snipers. As such, they are exceptionally skilled assassination missions and long-ranged combat.

Scout snipers are a notoriously disruptive factor throughout the entire Imperial Army. Various reports indicate that there can be extreme difficulty in integrating scout snipers with other types of Imperial soldiers. In most cases, the cause of the friction is almost entirely on the side of the scouts, who made a sport out of being as belligerent and insufferable as possible. Although scout snipers share a fierce sense of camaraderie with each other, they make a habit of treating everyone else of equal or lower rank as inferiors.
